PLANK! - RELEASE single, PLAY LIVE in Manchester & London....

Akoustik Anarkhy are very pleased to announce a joint venture in sound recording with Static Caravan – PLANK!’s first 7” single - Pick Sick (Remix) / Self Harm’ (VAN228 aA2w54) on a limited Edition of 400 7” vinyl on coloured wax in hand numbered reverse board sleeves. In the shops Feb 28th. Time spent on Manchester's underground live circuit has proved fruitful; both ‘Self Harm’ and ‘Pig Sick (Remix)’ convey a newly found free-form energy that encompasses an abundance of fresh ideas. ‘Self Harm’ bristles with a rugged math-rock intensity, confidently flitting between atmosphere-altering structures without ever fully leaving its stoic motorik; it’s indicative of PLANK!’s experimental side and willingness to incorporate a plethora of different elements within the studio.

Friday February 25th sees PLANK! return to The Castle Hotel for Akoustik Anarkhy, supported by Star Slinger and VEI.

*Star Slinger* is an Electronic project created by Manchester based in Darren Williams. The name Star Slinger was born when Darren sampled BT Express’ instrumental B Side “Cowboy Dancer”. He often names his creations with word association towards the sample he uses. Recent remixes of Small Black, Deerhunter, Broken Social Scene and The Go! Team have seen him become a man in demand, check out his ace new vinyl cut out on Mexican Summer.

*Veí* is the alias of multi-instrumentalist, producer and current 'Kin' keyboardist Jonn Dean. Using live loopers, samplers and drum machines with a plethora of circuit-bent and glitchy fx - Veí's sound is awash with samples of orchestral and world instruments mixed with complex percussion and lo-fi beats.

Expect a night of electron-soaked kraut outer worldliness, with an in-between soundtrack provided by aA’s resident DJs.

Next day PLANK! make the journey down the M6 to play Club Motorik @ The Drop, Stoke Newington, London N16 0LH....

London's premier night of motorik and cosmic sounds Klub Motorik takes place on the last Saturday of the month at The Drop, tucked away on Stoke Newington Church St. For fans of motorik freakrock, Moogie boogie, superbike psych, synth-Balearica, new-gaze, Italo disco wigouts and cosmic chuggers thrown in for good measure - all with one eye firmly on the dancefloor, with eye-blistering motorik live acts from across the UK and beyond. As well as PLANK! the excellent Eat Lights Become Lights are on on the bill..


Eat Lights Become Lights sharing a deep love of classic German electronic acts of the 1970’s, they evoke kosmische bands Neu!, Kraftwerk & Harmonia, but make the sound very much their own, creating an ever-changing synesthesic landscape of harmony and melody, feedback & drones, played against a driving, motorik beat.
