aA & Melodic Records Showcase for In The City

We are delighted to hook up with our close friends and associates Melodic Records for a one off showcase as a part of this year's In The City, taking place at the newly refurbished Castle Hotel on Oldham Street on Friday October 15th. The line up's pretty special if we do say ourselves...

In the aA corner...

PLANK!

Not so fresh from lurking the backstreets of Manchester's seedier side come PLANK! with their dark rhythmic experimental instrumental sprawlings and motorik manifesto...

BEAT THE RADAR

"Pucker Up Indie Rock here comes a kiss of life" 4/5
THE DAILY MIRROR

"None of their delighful live rawness is sacrificed on their debut album - 'Miracles' drips with rolling melody that wouldn't look out of place in the Stone Roses songbook, while Telephone Conversation' is reminiscent of early Cribs pepped up a few notches - making 'To The City, From The Sea' a punchy, promising debut".
THE FLY

& from Melodic Records...

STANDARD FARE

"A riot of hormones, cut-to-the-chase lyrics, bolshie girl-boy vocals and jingle-jangle propusion...The best and most loveable aspects of indie guitar music."
The Sunday Times

"An album that is as close to perfection as you could hope for."
Artrocker

"Is it one of the best albums I’ve heard so far this year? Hell yeah."
The Line Of Best Fit

WORKING FOR A NUCLEAR FREE CITY

"Best British band" - Lowdown Magazine

Album of the Month - Rock Sound

"Approaching genius - 4/5" - The Sunday Telegraph

"Pounding techno beats acoustic guitars and soaring melancholic indie with signiture bending krautrock ... most impressive - 8/10" - NME

WINDMILL

Windmill was born from the hidden four-track recordings of Matthew Thomas Dillon. The buzz surrounding Windmill began in the alternative, underground scene with a ltd 7” release on the highly respected indie label ‘Static Caravan’. This caught the attention of another stellar independent label ‘Melodic Records’ and work began on the debut album. Produced by Dillon himself and Tom Knott, their vision was both unique and spellbinding. The record entitled “Puddle City Racing Lights” was released to unanimous, critical acclaim. “Puddle City Racing Lights” has been embraced by some of the finest independent record labels in the world.
